What is Momatu?

Momatu is an app that allows you to chat, share and connect with your family while saving your most treasured moments so you can look back on them for years to come.

Imagine the best parts of a messaging app and photo storage app combined into something thatʼs custom-built for families and unique to you.

How is it different from other messaging or social apps?

Many social apps are public and unsecure making them unsuitable for younger family members. Meanwhile, many photo storage solutions lack connectivity and interaction.

Momatu offers one app that the whole family can use thatʼs safe, simple and private. With family chat groups now commonplace, itʼs easy to lose precious moments amongst a feed of memes and receipts. Momatu allows you to separate the keepers from the deleters and save them to your family's timeline so they're safe forever.

Plus thereʼs no spam calls, no fancy algorithms, and no scrolling through feeds of targeted ads.

How do I try Momatu?

Momatu works on both Android and Apple devices. You can download it for free from Google Play and the App Store.

Are my moments safe in Momatu?

Momatu's whole purpose is to keep your most precious moments safe for years to come. It was born out of our own fears of losing track of all our family pictures and not having something to show our kids when they grow up.

We take your privacy seriously and all the moments you add are backed up on our servers. Should you ever want to get a second copy of your moments, you can download each moment from the timeline.

What is a Momatu home?

A home is your private space for your family to share, connect and hang out. When you join Momatu, youʼll be asked if you have an invite to a home or want to start a new one. Only the people you invite can join your home, making it a special place for the most important people in your life.

Who can I invite to Momatu?

Momatu is designed for the whole family to enjoy - young, old, and young at heart. You can invite anyone with a mobile phone by sending them a private invite link.

You can also add others without a phone as managed members. Babies, young children and even pets can have their own timeline so you can record their moments too.

What is the timeline?

The timeline beautifully captures your family's best moments so you can keep them safe forever. Itʼs like a time capsule that naturally fills up the more you share. Each home has a family timeline that anyone in the home can add to.

Can I create a timeline for someone without a phone?

You sure can. You can add a baby, young child or even a pet. These are called managed members. Adding a managed member means you can create a timeline for someone and capture their moments for them. It will be connected to the account of the person who created it so youʼll have full control. You can add a managed member from your homeʼs timeline.

Is there a storage limit?

The skyʼs the limit. You can add as many moments as you can capture.

Can I download copies of my moments?

Yep! Each moment can be individually saved to your device by clicking the ‘save to device' option under the three-dot icon in the momentʼs details.

What’s the cost?

Momatu is free of charge to download and use, for you and all the family.

Who can see what I share?

All Momatu homes are private. Only the people that you invite can see your content.

Is Momatu safe for kids to use?

Certainly, in fact, it was designed for the whole family to enjoy. Momatu is a private invite-only space meaning only the people you invite to your home can connect with you. There are no strangers or unknowns, just family and the content you share.

Does Momatu collect any information about users?

In order to provide you with a personalised and continuously improving service, Momatu automatically collects data about your device or browser such as:

Your IP address or device identifier
Browser type and version
Device type and operating system
When you used our services
How you used our services
Total amount of content upload

This information is non-identifiable (which means it can’t be linked back to a user) and is securely stored. We only use this data for internal marketing, troubleshooting and analysing the performance of our service.

At any time you may ask us to delete this information by emailing support@momatu.com.

Does Momatu share my data with anyone?

We do not sell your data to anyone or use the information you provide to us in any malicious way.

We partner with world-leading software companies to help keep Momatu running. The data we share with these partners is only used to monitor our overall service performance or help us communicate with you. Our partners are not able to use your data to communicate with you.
