We’re always looking for ways to optimise and improve the Momatu experience. That’s why we’ve introduced the option of Single Sign-On to make it a whole lot easier to sign up or sign in to Momatu.
Single Sign-On also adds an extra layer of security thanks to the inclusion of two-factor authentication and anti-fraud measures (you can find out more here).
To help explain it in more detail, we’ve compiled a list of questions to help troubleshoot any issues you may have.
What is Single Sign-On?
Single-Sign On is a way for you to easily sign in to Momatu using the verified account details from either Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In with a single password and ID. This doesn’t mean Momatu will be linked to any other apps, platforms or services – it simply means you can sign up and log in with more options instead of just an email address.
Of course, if you want to continue signing in with a regular email address, you can continue to do so.
The benefits of Single Sign-On includes one tap to sign in, a secure authentication system that reduces the burden of logging in, seamless account management to save you the hassle of remembering all your passwords and lastly, Single Sign-On adds another layer of security with anti fraud measures and two-factor authentication.
How is Single-Sign On more secure?
Apple Sign-In enables you to sign in to Momatu using your Apple ID. This means instead of completing your details, verifying your email addresses, filling out forms or choosing a new password, you can skip the hassle and easily log in and start using Momatu instantly. Further, all Apple accounts are protected with two-factor authentication for an extra layer of security. Most importantly, Apple will not track users activity inside Momatu.
In addition with Apple SSO (single sign on) you can choose to encrypt your email address so Momatu will never have your email address. You can read more about it here.
Similar to Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In means you can log straight into Momatu using your existing Google account details. Google’s security technology helps to detect any suspicious activity to keep you safer online and protect your data.
HELP! I Logged in and all my moments disappeared!
Oh no! Don’t worry – there is a solution. First of all, please check if the Single Sign-On account (Google or Apple) is the same email that you previously registered with Momatu.
If you are an existing customer and you’ve signed in for the first time using Single Sign-On and you can’t see your timeline, it is likely your Momatu account is registered under a different email address. If this is the case, try logging in with the email address option only (not Google or Apple Sign-In) instead.

I’m an existing user and already have an account. How does this affect me?
If you’ve used the same email address for your Momatu account as your Google or Apple sign in, to save time you can use SSO to sign in each time.
My family wants to sign up to Momatu. Will this be easier for them to sign up?
Fantastic! Your family will love using Momatu to stay connected. If your family already have an account with Apple or Google they can sign in easily.
If not, they can still easily sign up with an email address.
Can I keep using my existing email to log in?
Absolutely you can. Similar to our earlier example above, if you previously created a Momatu account using the email address email@example.com, you will be able to use Google Single Sign-In with firstname.lastname@example.org.
If I create a new account with a new email address, can I transfer my moments across?
Unfortunately due to security reasons we restrict the transference of moments from one account to another.
However you can change your registered email account on Momatu to match your SSO account.

For sign in with Apple on iOS, you can link your existing Momatu account which could be from a different address. This is so that you can choose “hide my email” under Apple ID and would be given a chance to continue using the app. Please see the steps below for more details on this.
Can I change the email registered to my account?
Yes. To do this, please follow the below steps:
- Open Momatu, ensure you’re logged into the account you want to change
- Open settings
- Click change email
- Update email with your new email address and save
- Log out of the app
- Now use SSO (google or apple)
- Voila! Your moments should all be there.
Whoops….I logged out and now I can’t get back in. What do I do?
Don’t worry – we’ll get you back into Momatu in no time! First, try resetting your password to regain access to your account.

What happens if I accidentally create a new account instead of my existing one?
Don’t worry. Log out of your new account and login using the email address sign in option for your Momatu.

How do I check what email I logged in with my account?
Easy! Start by opening the Momatu app and following these steps:
- Click on settings
- Click on change email
- Your email address for the account will be here.
